Commissioner Lamoer calls for calm in Mossel Bay

Western Cape Police Commissioner Arno Lamoer has condemned the unrest in Kwanonqaba, Mossel Bay. 

Residents of the township have been protesting since Sunday over illegal power connections and basic service delivery issues. 

They are also demanding that the thirty people who were arrested on Wednesday for public violence be released. 

Commissioner Lamoer has also condemned the attack on police and torching of municipal buildings. 

Captain Malcolm Pojie said today the situation is much calmer as we have reinforcement’s such as police chopper deployed in the area to monitor the situation.

Pojie said thirty of the protestors that were arrested on Wednesday are appearing in the Mossel Bay Court today.
