The Department of Water and Sanitation said it will have a zero-tolerance approach when it comes to water crimes.

This as the department visited dairy farms in Malmesbury as part of compliance monitoring and enforcement operation.

The Department’s Malusi Rayi said its desire is not to make enemies with industries and farms, but to work with them to protect water resources for the benefit of water security.

Rayi said they must not throw any rubbish in the rivers. What we picked up on Wednesday is that some of them are complying but there is a room of improvement for instance we picked up that most of them they do not have the licences for waste discharge.”.

“The department has given them directives to remedy those issues within the next ten days Rayi” Rayi added.
