The City of Cape Town’s Public Transport Interchange Unit together with the Integrated Public Transport Unit within law enforcement arrested one person for being in possession of drugs at the Bellville train station.

Mayoral Committee Member for Safety and Security JP Smith said during a search operation by these two units they confiscated several dozen packets of tik and other drugs found in potato bags.

Smith said a lot of commuters are using those facilities and that is why the City has been trying to improve security.

He added that one man was arrested after he was found operating from a food outlet and selling drugs on the side.
