Five people died and three injured in separate accidents

An accident late last night between a truck and a taxi on the N4 near Komatipoort in Mpumalanga left four people dead and three others injured. 

It is believed that the occupants of the taxi had apparently been pushing the broken down taxi up the hill before the truck collided with the taxi trailer.

ER24 Spokesperson Russel Meiring said they arrived on scene and they found that the truck and taxi stationed on the side of the road. The occupants of the taxi lay around the taxi and its trailer.

“On assessment, paramedics found that four men had been dismembered and succumbed to their fatal injuries.

Three other patients lay next to the taxi, their injuries ranging from minor to moderate.” Meiring added.

Paramedics provided the patients with advanced life support before transporting them to Tonga Hospital for further treatment.

He added that witnesses said that the occupants of the taxi had apparently been pushing the broken down taxi up the hill before the truck collided with the taxi trailer.

Meanwhile in another accident this morning on the N12 in Benoni, Johannesburg left a man in his 30’s dead.

ER24 Spokesperson Russel Meiring said When ER24 paramedics arrived on scene; they found the man lying in the middle isle of the road.

“Unfortunately the man had already succumbed to his fatal injuries. The driver of the vehicle was not found on scene.” Meiring added.

The exact details of the cause of the accident will remain the subject of a police investigation.
