A possible end to the wage strike by over 3 000 Southern Clothing and Textile Workers’ Union members in the cotton textile sector is looming.

The workers have been on strike for three weeks demanding an 8.75 percent wage increase and a further 2.5 percent on peripheral rights issues.

Sactwu’s National Coordinator for the cotton textile sector

Christopher Soetsane said basically what happen was a recommended 8,5 percent in the first year and both parties have agreement that they are going to take the recommended wage offer. The process is expected to be finalized soon hopefully by Monday.
