A 31-year-old suspect was earlier this week handed down a life sentence by the Villier Regional Court after he raped a 14-year-old girl in June last year.

Police Spokesperson Sergeant Mmako Mophiring said at the time of the incident the girl was not with her mother therefore the suspect took advantage of that.

Mophiring said he gained entry through the window and tried to disguise himself with a different voice but the 14-year-old managed to recognize his voice because he visited the house regularly.

“Later the police managed to link the suspect with the voice and DNA test which were conducted and that resulted in his arrest” Mophiring added.
