An accident late last night on the Golden Highway in Gauteng left one person dead and another critically injured.

This is after their vehicle collided head-on with a truck.

ER24 Spokesperson Russel Meiring said when paramedics arrived on the scene they found the light motor vehicle stationed in the middle of the road, and the truck stationed some distance away from the scene.

Meiring said the driver of the vehicle had been ejected when he collided with the truck and unfortunately he had succumbed to his injuries.

“The passenger lay trapped inside the light motor vehicle and was in a critical condition and paramedics had to use the Jaws of Life to free the passenger from the vehicle” Meiring added.

The exact details of the cause of the accident will remain the subject of a police investigation.
