A man sentenced to 25-years for rape and murder

A 26-year-old man in Nongoma has been sentenced to 25-years in prison for rape and murder which happened in 2013. 

KwaZulu Natal Police Commissioner Lieutenant General Mmamonnye Ngobeni said the detectives on the case did great work in collecting evidence which led to the prosecution and sentencing of the suspect.

Police Spokesperson Thulani Zwane said it is alleged that the man raped his girlfriend and killed her by strangling her.

Zwane said a case of murder was then opened at Nongoma Police station and through an investigation the detectives managed to arrest the suspect the same as the incident happened.
