An accident on the Bhejane Road near the M25 in Kwamashu, KwaZulu Natal left four people dead and 25 others were left injured.

This is after the bus they were traveling lost control and went down an embankment.

ER24 Spokesperson Russel Meiring said when ER24 paramedics, along with other services, arrived on scene, they found a wrecked bus stationed on the side of the road. The occupants of the bus were all spread around the vehicle.

“Paramedics assessed the scene and found that three had been killed while 26 others had sustained injuries ranging from minor to critical.

One of the critically injured patients required rapid advanced life support due to his severe injuries. Unfortunately, after 20 minutes of treatment, the patient succumbed to his injuries.” Meiring added.

He also said paramedics immediately treated the remaining 25 patients on scene for their injuries. Once treated, they were transported to various hospitals for further medical treatment.

The exact details of the cause of the accident will remain the subject of a police investigation.
