The Democratic Alliance has called for clarity on electricity tariff increase.

This follows the announcement by cabinet that it had approved a package to close the funding gap at Eskom.

DA MP of Public Enterprises Natasha Michael said they will be requesting that all documents relating to government’s bailout plan for Eskom be tabled in Parliament.

Michael said Parliament needs to see exactly what kind of funds are going to be made available, why they are going to be available and exactly are these funds going to be used for and how they will be allocated.

“It is very important that the South African public, have a full and in-depth knowledge of exactly what is being used for South African money, for a South African entity” Michael added.
