The Democratic Alliance has welcomed the compensation cover for domestic workers.

Over the weekend Minister of Labour Mildred Oliphant announced that Parliament was reviewing the Compensation for Occupational Injuries and Diseases Act as well as the Unemployment Insurance Act.

DA MP of Labour Ian Ollis said they look forward to continue public engagement on the new proposal.

Finally we see the Minister of Labour last week announcing that she is going to put on the table a draft proposal for compensation fund benefit for domestic workers.

“We are very excited that this is finally come to be the only problem of course is that domestic workers could have had this already in 2011 if the ANC had not block my private members bill, to provide compensation fund benefits for domestic workers already in 2011” Ollis added.
