The Western Cape Provincial Legislature will be having public hearings on the amended visa regulations.

Chairperson of the Standing Committee on Economic Development, Tourism and Agriculture Beverley Schafer said the standing committee recognises the seriousness of human trafficking and also recognises government’s steps to tackling such a horrendous human rights crime in the country.

Minister of Home Affairs Malusi Gigaba is expected to attend the hearings as well.

Schafer said we’ll be holding public hearing based on the fact that we have received a number of complaints with regards to the new visa regulations.

“The hearings will enlighten people on the depth of the visa regulations as we noted the affects the new visa regulations has on the economy from what we can see Schafer added.
