MEC JP Smith responds to Cosatu’s statement of dismissal

Mayoral Committee member for the City of Cape Town JP Smith said he hasn’t yet been able to see the statement issued by Cosatu but understand that it is with regards to the officer Nkomo who was dismissed for insubordination.

She was dismissed because she broke the law. It was necessary for us take action within the law as the impound of the perpetrators vehicle was in fact illegal.

JP Smith said lets be clear Cape Town is the only city where we have been able to bring our road fatality rate down.

“Cosatu would be much better served to pick a fight with other provinces where the rate of road fatalities and road safety is of a much far worse standard Smith added.
