MEC Plato condemns comments by Ses’Khona inciting violence

Western Cape MEC of Community Safety Dan Plato has condemned comments made by the Ses’Khona People’s Rights Movement inciting violence.

This is after it was reported that members of the group were called upon to fight the police during their protest march at the Western Cape High Court on Tuesday.

MEC Plato said it is clear that the protestors led by Ses’Khona have no interest in abiding by the law.

Ministerial Spokesperson Ewald Botha said this is not the first time the Ses’Khona has called on people to break the law.  They have also encouraged people to invade land and pollute streets.

“This incitement of violence and anarchy cannot be allowed in our democracy.  The Western Cape government calls on the Ses’Khona leadership to retract their statements and start respecting the constitution and the rule of law” Botha added.
