An accident this morning on the N3 near Liberty Mall in KwaZulu Natal left two people injured, one critically.

This is after two trucks collided into each other.

The exact details of the cause of the accident will remain the subject of a police investigation.

ER24 Spokesperson Russel Meiring said Rescue services had to use the jaws-of-life equipment to free the patient in a two hour rescue.

Meiring said once freed from the wreckage, paramedics provided the patient with advanced life support before transporting him to a nearby hospital for further treatment.

Meiring said the second driver was treated for his moderate injuries and thereafter transported to a nearby hospital for further observations.

“The cause of the collision is not yet known but local authorities were on scene for further investigations Meiring added.
