The African Christian Democratic Party has raised its concern over the increase in mall attacks in the province.

This is after over R2 million worth of goods were stolen from a jewellery store in Canal Walk over the weekend.

ACDP Provincial Leader Ferlon Christians said mall security needs to be upgraded to detect metal objects.

“We just learn that the spate of the attacks were two in Canal Walk. We are appealing to shop owners and developers to take action, because this man had a massive gun. Surely they must have metal detectors from entering the mall because that is the danger to the public.

We are asking sub owners and mall owners to get together and make a plan because we had too many attack” Christians added.
