Cosatu NW vow to fight job losses in the mining sector

The Congress of South African Trade Union in the North West said it is committed to fighting job losses in the mining sector.

This as alleged retrenchments are on the cards for workers in the platinum sector due to strikes that happened between 2012 and 2014.

Cosatu’s Solly Phetoe said workers need to unite against these retrenchments and unite against the labour brokers.

“As Cosatu, we think that they must convene an indaba in the North West province to talk about all those problems and talk about what is that must happen in relation to job creation not job losses.

We want to warn all the mining companies Lonmin, Anglo Platinum and Impala that they must never try that, because they will be trying Cosatu and we will be ready for them.” Phetoe added.
