DA claims the Finance Minister in denial over another credit rating downgrade.

In a reply to a DA parliamentary question the Minister of Finance, Nhlanhla Nene, stated that government is of the view that a further downgrade to the banking sector is highly unlikely.

DA Member of Finance Portfolio Committee Malcolm Figg said the DA therefore challenges Minister Nene to commit to accounting before the Portfolio Committee on Finance should a further credit rating downgrade materialise.

Figg said this denial by government to accept that a further downgrading is imminent is a clear indication that a reality check is needed.

“It is now time for the Minister to act Figg added.
