Deputy President Ramophosa returned to Lesotho

Deputy President Cyril Ramapohosa has returned to Lesotho ahead of the reconvening of Parliament on Friday. 
During the visit Deputy Ramaphosa is expected to continue the support in his regional facilitation efforts by a team of Southern African Development Community experts.

Political parties in Lesotho agreed to open parliament in preparations for elections next year in February. 

Deputy President Spokesperson Ronnie Mamoepa said in terms of the declaration, his Majesty, King Letsie III is to reconvene Parliament on 17 October 2014 to discuss the budget and all other related matters regarding the holding of elections.

“In this regard the Maseru Facilitation Declaration further provided that Parliament is to be dissolved at the beginning of December 2014 to prepare for the holding of the National General Elections scheduled for the end of February 2015 and on a date to be set by his Majesty, King Letsie III.” Mamoepa added.
