Western Cape MEC for Social Development Albert Fritz has called on parents to be cautious about the safety of their children.

This comes after a two month old Azile Skafu was reunited with his mother. The infant was snatched from his parents’ home on Friday.

A 35 year-old woman has been arrested in connection with his kidnapping after the baby was found late yesterday.

Parents must remember the children act makes very clear provision for the department to purse a prosecution in child neglect if this happens again

“In this case we are happy the child is found and we do not want to go the punitive way but we want to call on specifically young parents to take responsibility of their children” Fritz added.

Meanwhile African Christian Democratic Party said they are delighted that the little boy was found safely and been returned to his parents.

ACDP Leader in the Western Cape Ferlon Christians said South African Police Service needs to be commended for the job they have done.

“We know that child trafficking is a major problem globally, we urge parents to be more vigilant concerning their children’s whereabouts.” Christians added.
