Western Cape MEC of Community Safety Dan Plato has called on the community of Manenberg to work with police in bringing offenders to task.
This is after a 71-year-old woman was gunned down at her home in near Vygieskraal Road on Tuesday night.

Her brother a 44-year-old Constable was also injured during the shooting.  Police said the motive for the murder is still unknown and no arrests have been made as yet.

Ministerial Spokesperson Ewald Botha said MEC Plato conveyed sincerest condolences to the extended family, friends, colleagues of Constable Eksteen, for their loss and trauma experienced with the attack that has fatally wounded the 71-year-old mother and injured the 44-year-old brother of Constable Lutfie Eksteen.

“MEC Plato urges the community of Manenberg to work with the police in bringing the offenders to task because, we cannot allow such a brazen and heinous attack to deter the SAPS to act against unscrupulous criminals, murderers, gang bosses or drug-lords.” Botha added.
