Ten suspects arrested for business robbery in Dundee

Ten suspects aged between 21 and 53-years-old were arrested over the weekend in Dundee for allegedly being involved in a business robbery at a supermarket in the area. 

The suspects are expected to appear in the Dundee Magistrate Court soon on charges of business robbery, attempted murder and possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition. 

Major Thulani Zwane said a group of armed men entered the supermarket in Dundee and at gunpoint took an undisclosed amount of cash before fleeing the scene.

Zwane said Police immediately responded to the robbery and while responding to the robbery, they came under fire and the police retaliated.

Zwane said two police officers were wounded during the shootout and ten suspects were arrested and five unlicensed firearms were recovered.

“The Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Mmamonnye Ngobeni commended the members for the good work that led to the arrest of these suspects as part of our Festive Season operations Zwane added.
