A suspect was arrested by the Limpopo crime investigation task team for bribing a police official.

Police Spokesperson Colonel Ronel Otto said the suspect tried to bribe a police official with an amount of R 6 000.

Otto said the 37-year-old suspect is a relative of one of two men who were arrested earlier after they robbed an employer from the British American Tobacco company while he was delivering cigarettes at a shop.

“Now they were appearing in court on Tuesday for a formal bail application when this suspect attempted to bribe the police official” Otto added.

The Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Limpopo Lieutenant General Fannie Masemola said he trusts the arrest will show and send a clear message to criminals that bribery and corruption will not be tolerated.
