Cosatu in the Western Cape has welcomed the 15 year jail sentence of J Arthur Brown for stealing the pension funds of widows.

Cape Cosatu spokesperson Tony Erenreich said this should serve as a clear
indication to fund managers that they will be put in jail for corruption and
stealing from the poor.

said this sentence must hopefully also serve as a deterrent to the growing
levels of white collar crime.

said White collar crime and white still steal much more in the economy than any
other group and decisive action must be taken against them to dissuade this
behaviour.

said we commend Government action in appealing the case and call on all forms
of corruption to see the perpetrators imprisoned.
“This
15 year jail sentence is still too low for the hardships that he caused and we
must investigate who else was involved in the criminal acts, so that they can
also be brought to book Erenreich added.
