The Democratic Alliance has called for SABC Chairperson Ellen Tshabalala to be removed from her position.
The Democratic Alliance has called for SABC Chairperson Ellen Tshabalala to be removed from her position.
This is after the Communications Portfolio
Committee on Wednesday found Tshabalala guilty of two misconduct charges,
misrepresentation of her qualifications and lying under oath in Parliament.
In a statement the committee said it was
committed to upholding the Western Cape High Court judgement which emphasised
the need to observe the rules of natural justice when dealing with the
matter.
DA MP of Communications Gavin Davis said we
have sent a memorandum to the speaker of Parliament requested that Tshabalala
be suspended from her duties with immediate effect
Gavin said ultimately she needs to be
removed from office by a resolution of the National Assembly when Parliament
meets in February.
