Eskom has warned of an increasing probability of load
shedding as we reach the end of the week this is due to issues regarding diesel
and reserves.
Last month a coal silo at the Majuba Power station in Mpumalanga collapsed
resulting in rolling blackouts across the country.
Eskom Spokesperson Andrew Etzinger said the resources that we have are peaking power stations mainly our diesel and our upper dam levels for our pump storage power stations are running low.
“Unfortunately that does mean high risk of load
shedding and also a possibility of load shedding on the weekend, again in order
to build up those reserves for the coming week,” Etzinger added.
Meanwhile the Cape Chamber of Commerce has called for an inquiry to be established to deal with the crisis at Eskom.
