A shack fire in Wallacedene leaves a 7-year-old boy dead

A fire which broke out last night in Wallacedene resulted in a seven-year-old boy being killed and four structures destroyed. 

City of Cape Town’s Disaster Risk Management Spokesperson Wilfred Solomons-Johannes said ten people were left displaced as a result of the fire. 

Solomons-Johannes said the boy could not escape the blaze as he was in one of the structures that caught alight.

“The City of Cape Town is assisting the affected victims and the cause of the fire is being investigated” Solomons-Johannes added.
