The Democratic Alliance has described the resignation of Special Investigating Unit boss Advocate Vas Soni as another blow to fight against corruption.

Soni resigned on Monday due to his wife falling ill.

DA MP of Justice Glynnis Breytenbach said the country’s criminal justice system is in rapid decay and President Jacob Zuma must do all in his power to fix this.

Breytenbach said: “It’s a pity because the organization has been reasonably directionless for years and it’s been there long enough to put any kind of stamp on it and now again the organization will be directionless and its just a symptomatic of the assault on the criminal justice cluster.”
