Western Cape MEC of Transport and Public Works Donald Grant has once again urged drivers to be vigilant on the roads and respect other road users.

This is after an accident involving a bus and a minibus taxi on the N1 outside Touwsriver on Monday night left seven people dead including three children.

MEC Grant said reckless driving and speeding remain one of the biggest causes of the high fatalities on the country’s roads.

He added that at this stage he does not want to say too much about the accident because it is a subject of an official inquiry.

“The other vehicle involved was a bus from the Eastern Cape with about 65 passengers and fortunately no one in the bus was injured” Grant added.
