The National Education and Allied Workers Union say it welcomes the resignation of Head of the Special investigations Unit Advocate Vas Soni.

Soni resigned on earlier this week citing his wife’s state of health as the reason.

Nehavwu’s Spokesperson Sizwe Pamla said Advocate Soni failed to provide the necessary leadership and transparency in the SIU.

Pamla says “we want to make it clear we don’t regard it as a resignation; we feel it is camouflage surrender from a leader who was out of his depth, who had lost the control of SIU, who had also lost the confidence of the employees at SIU.

“The fact that Advocate Soni encourages the myth that he has turned around SIU is so not true. SIU is in crisis, most of the senior managers have left because of his micro management and some of the employees have been demoted and some people had been recruited without following recruitment policies” Pamla added.
