One arrested for possession of unlicensed firearm

A 60-year-old man was on Tuesday arrested in Nongoma for being in possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

The suspect was arrested in a house after police followed up on information.

KwaZulu Natal Police Commissioner Lieutenant Mmamonnye Ngobeni said it is disappointing that such an elderly person who should be setting an example to the younger generation was found in possession of such illegal firearms and ammunition.

Colonel Jay Naicker said during the search of the premises they found him in possession of a point head revolver with three live rounds of ammunition.
