As today marks the start of the 2015 academic year the Western Cape Department of Education said it is ready for the year.

Pupils at St Agnes Primary in Woodstock and Fairbairn College in Goodwood shared their feelings of the first day of school. Some learners said they felt excited as they are about to finish school, meanwhile some learners shared that they feel nervous.

Meanwhile the Principle of St Agnes Primary in Woodstock Alfonso Louw said his school is ready to start the year. The WCED projected enrolment for 2015 for Grade 1 learners to be 109 000.

It’s good to be back at school, we were prepared from the end of last year, and we have put measures in place for the smooth start to the school year and hope 2015 will be a good year for everybody. Louw added.

Also on the other hand the principle of Fairbairn College in Goodwood Bernie Machant has encouraged pupils to take their education seriously and use every opportunity to better themselves.

Learners must grab every possible opportunity they get. We have an academic focus and also strict discipline here, said Machant.
