Seven children died in Pietermaritzburg crush

A tragic accident in Iimbali, Pietermaritzburg left seven children dead and seventeen injured.

This is after the bakkie they were travelling in collided with a fence and a house.

ER24 Spokesperson Pieter Rossouw said the collision killed seven children under the age of 13 and left 17 others injured.

Rossouw said amongst the injuries there were seven people with critical injuries, nine were left with moderate injuries and two were left with minor injuries.

“ER24 paramedics were on scene and transported two patients to Grey hospital for further treatment. All the other patients were transported by other medical services” Rossouw added.

The exact details to the cause of the accident will remain the subject of a police investigation.
