Tributes continue for the late Jackie Selebi

Police Minister Nkosinathi Nhleko has sent his condolences to the family of the late Jackie Selebi. 

Former police commissioner Jackie Selebi died this morning in Pretoria after suffering from kidney failure.

Meanwhile the African National Congress earlier today said Selebi played a part in the liberation of the country. 

Ministerial Spokesperson Musa Zondi said we are sending our condolences to the family and also to the people of South Africa who touched by the work of the former National Commissioner in the many roles that he was serving his country in.

Meanwhile the Police and Prisons Civil Rights Union has also joined in the tributes for Jackie Selebi.

Popcru Spokesperson Theto Mahlakoana said Selebi played a great contribution when he was the Police Commissioner. 

Mahlakoana said we believe that the contribution he has made to the South African Police Service and internationally is quite remarkable.

“We extend our condolences to the Selebi family and friends Mahlakoana added.
