11 people were injured this afternoon, three seriously, when a farm truck overturned in the Sabie Graskop area in Nelspruit.

ER24 paramedics battled the heavy dirt roads to make their way to the scene. The AER24 helicopter was called in to assist due to the remote location of the incident.

ER24 Spokesperson Russel Meiring said once paramedics arrived on scene, they found a large farm truck lying on the dirt road on its side. The occupants that had been on the back lay all around the scene.

Meiring said Paramedics assessed the patients and found that three woman had sustained serious injuries while eight others had sustained minor injuries.

Meiring said Paramedics treated the injured while providing the seriously injured patients with advanced life support.

Meiring said one of the seriously injured patients was airlifted by the AER24 helicopter while the remaining two were transported by a private helicopter to Mediclinic Nelspruit for further treatment.

Meiring said the eight patients with minor injuries were transported by ambulance to Mediclinic Nelspruit for further treatment.

“It is understood that the driver lost control of the truck, causing it to overturn Meiring added.
