An accident this morning involving two taxis on the N1 near the R101 in Polokwane left a 5-year-old girl dead and nine others injured.

It is believed that one of the taxis was towing another when one of the drivers lost control which caused the vehicles to roll multiple times.

ER24 Spokesperson Russel Meiring said ER24 paramedics as well as other services arrived on the scene and found the two taxis on the side of the road. It was evident that both taxis have rolled multiple times.

Meiring said a lifeless body of a 5-year-old girl laid a few meters away from one of the vehicles and on assessment paramedics already found that the patient has succumbed to her severe injuries.

Meiring continues to say that nine other patients were found on the scene with various injuries ranging from minor to moderate. Paramedics assessed and treated the patients before transporting them to near-by hospitals, including Polokwane hospital.
