The Western Cape Department of Economic Opportunities will on Friday host the Annual Disability Employment Summit.
High on the agenda will be the topic of
increasing economic opportunities for people with disabilities.
A Census report last year revealed that 7.5
% of the population lives with some form of a disability and only 50 % of them
will be covered by the national budget.
Ministerial Spokesperson Bronwynne Jooste
said the Summit will bring
together people with disabilities, government and the private sector to ensure
that the economic inclusion of people with disabilities.
“National and provincial government
officials along with associations who represent people with disabilities and
major businesses will be there to discuss the issue” Jooste added.
