Chaos erupts at State of the Nation Address

Lusanda Bill
12 February 2015

President Jacob Zuma’s 8th State of the Nation Address was disrupted by the Economic Freedom Fighters this evening.
A group of members of Parliament started chanting pay back the money which resulted in the Speaker of Parliament Baleka Mbete asking the MP’s to leave.  However after several attempts to get them out of the house they were eventually removed by security guards.

EFF Leader Julius Malema while addressing the media after being “manhandle” said seven of EFF members were injured and one had to be taken to hospital.  He added that the people that threw them out were not Parliament security but in fact presidential protection.

Meanwhile Minister in the Presidency Jeff Radebe said government is disappointed and disgusted by the behaviour of EFF MP’s in the house tonight.

Radebe said government condemns with the strongest possible term the shameful conduct of the EFF members.

“We ask that Parliament apply the rules and take stern action against those who disrupted Parliament” Radebe added.
