The Congress of South African Trade Unions in the North West province said it is disappointed that the state enterprise Telkom has engaged in plans to restructure its operations in a bid to reduce operating costs.

The Union says the restructuring will come with a lot of job losses, with thousands of workers facing retrenchments and, cannot be allowed as it will add to the triple challenges of unemployment, poverty and inequality.

Cosatu Provincial Secretary Solly Phetoe says it will be unfair for the department of Eskom to do that on the workers because the senior managers did play a role in line of the corrupt activities that have taken place in Eskom.

Pheteo said we think that Telkom through the Ministry of Telecommunications are not resolving this issue, what they are doing is rushing into restructuring and there is no restructuring that can be done without retrenching workers.
