A joint operation with the Hawks, Crime Intelligence and Western Cape units has resulted in five people between the ages of 27 and 78-years-old being arrested for operating a drug lab.

Brigadier Hangwani Mulaudzi said the lab worth R25 million was manufacturing and transporting mandrax tablets to the Western Cape.

Mulaudzi said they are currently busy trying to ascertain whether there are other people that might be involved with this illegal activity, however this is still an ongoing investigation.

The five are expected to appear in court today on charges of possession and dealing in drugs.
