Information from the National Traffic Information System has revealed that close to a million professional drivers are operating without the proper documentation.

The Road Traffic Management Corporation together with traffic enforcement agencies have already stepped up their vigilance and will investigate all major accidents to establish the compliance level of operators.

RTMC’s Simon Zwane said these people are not supposed to drive busses and trucks to be on roads, because they do not have necessary documentation on the road.

Zwane said we are warning the owners and operators of such transport to make sure their drivers comply with the law and are renewing their permits. Failure to do so we will hold those owners liable for the failure to comply with the law.
