Deputy Minister of Land Reform Mcebisi Skwatsha today hosted Palestine anti-apartheid icon Leila Khaled, addressing the media on the conflicts of Israel and Palestine. The war between the two countries in the Gaza Strip is currently on hold after both sides agreed to a long-term ceasefire last year.

Sikwatsha said the ANC is behind the Palestine people to live free, because South Africa and Palestine relates to the struggle. We want to highlight to the world that the people of Palestine live in this way.

“We share and have shared similar experiences, this is why our first Former President Nelson Mandela said the there is no way that we can forsake our friends who stood by us. Even now, as the ANC we stand by the fight for a free Palestine” Sikwatsha added.

Meanwhile Palestine Icon Leila Khaled has called the world to support the end of struggle in Palestine by boycotting diverse sanctions against Israel. The world is in some ways is responsible for ending what has been going on between Israel and Palestine. We are not asking the world to fight for us because we are ready to fight.

“We are in position of self-defence, we are not asking anybody in the world to come and fight for us. We are ready for a fight and all means of resistance including arms struggle, because is occupation is terrorism.” Khaled added.
