Western Cape Police Commissioner Arno Lamoer has expressed sadness at the murder of 5-year old Kayde Williams whose body was found on Monday in Bredasdorp.
The child disappeared on Sunday while
walking into her grandmother’s house and her body was found in bushes a day
later.
Lamoer said a case of murder has been
opened and an investigation is underway.
“Our concern as the police is that parents
that look after their children must take responsibility for their
children. It is sad that children of
that age are being left wandering alone” Lamoer added.
Meanwhile the African National Congress in
the Western Cape has condemned the
murder of 5-year old Kayde Williams.
ANC Provincial Leader Marius Fransman in a
statement said violence against children is unacceptable.
ANC Spokesperson Cobus Glober said we call
on all people in the community to help the South African Police Service to
bring the culprits to book and to help this kind of crime to be reduced in that
area, since 35 of these incidents have been reported in the past year.
