Some MyCiti bus drivers employed by Tans-Peninsula will later this afternoon be embarking on a strike.

The City of Cape Town has called on commuters to make alternative means of transport.

The drivers will be striking from 2pm today and some of the affected areas include Salt River Rail, Waterfront, Hout Bay, Civic Centre, Dunoon, Sea Point, Camps Bay, Table View, Gardens and Walmer Estate.

City of Cape Town Mayoral Committee Member for Transport Brett Herron said we will be asking the other operating companies to assist us in order for us to have as little disruptions to the services as possible.

Herron said we urge commuters to keep checking with the transport information centre or on social media for updates on the strike and the impact of the strike.
