NEHAWU disturbed by corpse selling scandal

The National Education Health and Allied Workers Union says it is disturbed by the scandal of selling corpse for a fee at the Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital.

Nehawu Spokesperson Sizwe Pamla said there is no excuse for any worker to be involved in such an inexcusable behaviour.

The Gauteng Department of Health has instituted an investigation into the allegations.

Pamla said we find this absurd but a great level of ill-discipline. We as Nehawu feels that the managers have to provide answers as to how this is possible in an institution that has senior leadership.

Pamla said we also want to make it clear that our position is that we put the responsibility solely at the door of the security that is guarding the institution.

Pamla said it is unacceptable that private under takers are allowed to go in and out of the hospitals without providing body numbers.

“We are calling for the termination of those contracts” Pamla added.
