Two suspects aged 46 and 28-years-old were arrested for allegedly impersonating police officials, kidnapping assault and common robbery.

The two suspects were arrested by the National Investigation Unit on the East Rand in Johannesburg.

The two are expected to appear in court again on the 13th of February for a formal bail application which the state says it will oppose.

Lieutenant General Solomon Makgale said Igwemba, Pienaar and two of their accomplices arrived at the victim's house in Geduld, Springs carrying a fake docket and introduced themselves as investigating officers of the Organised Crime Unit in Germiston.

Makgale said on arrival at the house, the suspects demanded an embalming powder, which is used by drug lords to manufacture illicit drugs, especially Nyaope.

Makgale said when he could not provide them with details of the powder, the suspects took turns to question and torture the victim for a gruelling five hours.

Makgale said when the victim was eventually freed by the suspects, he went to the Springs Police Station where he opened a case against the perpetrators.

“Further investigations are to continue and we believe more people will be arrested regarding this matter” Makgale added.
