The Right 2 Know Campaign has condemned the actions that took place at the State of the Nation Address on Thursday evening which included the blocking of signal and the use of military forces.

In a statement R2K said it appears increasingly that the State will not govern by consent and are prepared to govern by increasingly authoritarian means.

R2K’s Murray Hunter in South Africa we’ve seen unbelievably shocking images in Parliament of the cutting off of internet, the manipulation of TV cameras and the use of armed guards to drag parliamentarians out of parliament.

Hunter said Parliament is meant to be an open space, it’s meant to be an open space that is transparent for all individuals in South Africa.

“It’s very important the every South African stands up to ensure that this doesn’t happen again as it will hurt our Democracy of this country” Hunter added.
