A protest action turned violent in Mfuleni on Wednesday night, when residents set a Golden Arrow bus and a truck alight.

Residents are demanding houses, from the City of Cape Town as they allege that Khayelitsha residents are given preference over them.

Residents of Mfuleni say they will continue with their protest action until the housing situation is dealt with speedily by the Western Cape government.

Police Spokesperson Thembinkosi Kinana said according to reports a group of protestors had gathered yesterday afternoon in the Mfuleni area complaining about service delivery.

Kinana said they then burnt tires and set alight a rental truck and a bus.

“We are investigating a case of public violence as no arrests have been mad as yet” Kinana added.
