Restaurant robber arrested in Kimberly

A 23-year-old man was arrested after he robbed a well-known restaurant in Chapel Street, Kimberley. 

Lieutenant Sergio Kock said it is alleged that the suspect grabbed the cash register while he drove through the drive-through of the restaurant. 

Kock said the employees of the restaurant alerted the police and also chased after the suspect.

He emphasised that with the help of other community members the suspect was cornered in Quinn Street, where he allegedly pulled a knife on the employees.

“The police arrived on the scene and arrested the suspect. The knife was confiscated and the cash register with all the money was retrieved and returned to the restaurant.” Kock said.

He concluded by saying that the Kimberley Cluster Commander, Major General Jean Abrahams lauds her members for the professional and vigilant response and the forwarded her gratitude to the community for their help.
