The Western Cape government will be funding a set of interventions to assist the Eden district in addressing the water shortages it is facing.

This as the area has for several weeks experienced hot weather and low rainfall and snowfall is limited as generally the snow from the winter months affects the flow of the rivers in the summer months.

Ministerial Spokesperson James-Brent Styan said the provincial government will fund R2.1 million to help increase the region’s water supply.

Brent Styan said this will look at interventions including equipping boreholes in Zoar and repairs of associated bulk of the infrastructure in the area.

“Water is a scarce source and we hope that these measures will assist the area in the interim” Brent Styan added.
